Uses Of Pressure Vessels And Air Fin Cooler

When it is needed to transport a process system, modular process skid is best suited for the purpose. Through use of modular process skid, process system can be easily transported. Traditionally, process system parts were shipped individually and then installed at manufacturing site. Process skid are an alternative to traditional process, and it reduces the time of installation. It has the advantage of parallel construction, where process systems can be built off-site and civil site upgrades are done at the site. As both the procedures can be done simultaneously, it reduces the time required for installation. But skids are not always a solution to this problem, because, if the parts are large. Then it is not possible to put them within a frame of modular process skid, and in such cases traditional methods are adopted.

Pressure vessels are the containers used to store and carry gases and liquids with higher pressure. When gases or liquids are stored at comparatively higher pressure, they become volatile and dangerous, and therefore special types of containers are required for their storage. These pressure vessels should adhere to safety standards, so that can be usable in oil, gas and petrochemical industries. Pressure vessels, whether they are custom made or standard, are designed to comply regulations and are cost effective and safe. Designing of pressure vessel involves, maximum safe operating pressure and temperature, safety factor, corrosion allowance and minimum design temperature.

Air cooled heat exchangers are used in those applications, where there is less availability of water, or it is needed to reduce the temperature. These are also called air fin cooler, and are used in number of applications, such as refineries, power plants, petrochemical industries, natural gas processing units. Air fin coolers are advantageous due to their low maintenance and low operating cost. These are used when the outlet temperature is more than the maximum ambient temperature. Initial cost of air fin coolers is higher than the water cooled heat exchangers, but it has lesser operating cost. For air fin coolers, the operating cost is the cost of power needed to make the air flow across the tube bundles.
